Care Bags for Greensboro

As a high risk facility, Women's Hospital serves more than 300 families who are facing pregnancy/infant loss each year. We are doing our best to place something uplifting into the hands of each one. We are also working on networking with medical offices in the area who serve women experiencing a pregnancy loss outside of the hospital. All of the care bags we provided to Women's Hospital have been used...and we are working hard to send them more. So far, we've only been able to put together 28 bags; based on those statistics...those will be gone in <1 month. We need:
-travel size lotion
-charms (i.e. teddy bears, butterflies, "hope", hearts, etc.)
-personal tissue packs
-monetary donations to order a new item we are creating for parents...including Dads!! (Please click on the paypal link on the right hand side if you can make a financial contribution. We also have a mailing address to receive checks.)

Our organization is run 100% by volunteers who are in no way financially reimbursed for their time/efforts. Once we obtain more materials, we could also use some help putting bags together.

The Cleansing Power of Raindrops

I liked the lyrics of this song:
"Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops?
What if your healing comes through tears?
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near?"

Aren't raindrops amazing? They can wash away filth, grime, and allow things to grow. Collectively, they can cause a flood. That's become our mission...to sprinkle others with h.o.p.e. As more people come together and break the silence of grief...a flood of h.o.p.e. begins to speak to others. I've never feared rain, myself. I love the sound of it on my roof. I remember a moment I shared with my husband over a decade ago in the rain....at first we ran, then we stopped and just let it wash over us. After we lost our son, the smell, feeling, and sound of rain cleansed my negative feelings and gave me hope. The next time it rains, I invite you to step outside and let it wash over your body, cleansing away the grime of whatever you might be feeling...and let it help you to grow.

What gives you hope?  Please comment to share!

Bereavement Conference

Our family was given the privilege of sharing the story of our angels at the Bereavement Conference at Women's Hospital this morning.  We were able to share the mission of this group and the importance of the cause.  The message seemed extremely well-received and we saw a wave of light-bulbs going off as each family shared their story.  For those in the NC area...we have a hospital that is in great need of clothing of any nature for their bereavement supply.  Please comment or send me an email if you think you can help out.  elizabeth@raindropmemories.org

Ryan's Day

Today we celebrated Ryan's first Heaven Day.  Many of us wore red today to honor him.  People sent in a flood of pictures of themselves wearing red and pictures of his name.  We collected hand-made diapers/blankets, fabric, pins, ribbon, and monetary contributions for Raindrop Memories.  Our family appreciated the love and support that poured out towards us today so much!  We hope to apply some of the generous monetary contributions of the community towards our 501 c(3) application.  We are currently researching law services in NC to assist us with this process.  Thanks for celebrating Ryan with us!!

Sponsor RM without Paying any $

Please consider downloading the "igive" button for your browser to support Raindrop Memories. It is FREE.

What happens when you do this?

1) A tiny little icon sits next to your browser bar.
2) When you shop online, merchants donate a percentage of your purchase to our cause (this doesn't cost you or Raindrop Memories anything....it is FREE and does not add on to your total. It is merchants' way of giving back).
3) When the total donated from merchants reaches a minimum of $25, Raindrop Memories gets a check.

So far we have 2 people enrolled and our earned total is $3.70.

Announcement: due to the recent influx of requests for memory items from individuals, we are enacting a new policy. We will continue to accept requests for mailed packages for as long as we have a supply of memory items. We will ask that you make a minimum donation of $6 to cover the cost of shipping/packaging. We do have a couple of outstanding requests that we will honor. The new policy will affect requests from 1/26/13 and beyond. Thank you for your understanding! Most of our efforts are local to hospitals and offices in NC, but we will gladly continue to fulfill requests elsewhere with a minimum donation of $6.

Everly's Day

One of our angel mommies has recently graduated from fabric trimmer/diaper flipper extraordinaire to seamstress!  Olivia Allen hosted a very special sewing event for her angel, Everly's first "angelversary".  You can read about sweet Everly on our angel page.  She had friends and family come together to help complete 500 Teeny Tears Diapers! (click to read Olivia's feature on the Teeny Tear's blog)

We are so proud to have such wonderful volunteers; many of us are parents of angels who have found strength, camaraderie, and healing through helping others.  Here are some pictures from the event.

Please consider downloading the "igive" application to your browser.  It is FREE and sends a donation to Raindrop Memories whenever you make an online purchase.  Simple and free...doesn't get better than that! The button is on the top right of the blog page.

Also, we have an event on Sunday January 20th at Maxie B's in Greensboro.  10% of proceeds will go to local bereavement support.  Stop by and enjoy a slice of cake or some delicious coffee/hot chocolate!
