NC High School Football Player Gives Back

This teeny little guy was born at 29 weeks. His birth weight was just over 3 pounds, though he later dropped to just over a pound.

That was back in 1995...that little guy is in high school now!  Cameron Moore decided to take on a project for raindrop memories for his senior project.  He chose to help us cut teeny tears diapers.  Check out "little" Cameron now...#64.

We are so thankful that Cameron donated his time to help us reach out to other families.  Thank you Cameron and family!  Cameron's cutouts will be used to make teeny tears diapers for the 8 hospitals we are currently serving in NC.

We so appreciate all of our volunteers.  Cameron was able to complete all of his volunteer time from home.  We have lots of tasks that we need help with from those who sew...and those who don't.  If you are interested in volunteering from home, please contact us at elizabeth@raindropmemories.org. If you'd like to learn more about teeny tears diapers, please visit them at their blog

Fundraising Update

We were able to raise $43.00 during our Mary Kay Fundraiser.  We are sooo close to meeting our $1000.00 goal by October 31st.  We are at $890.92!  If you'd like to help us reach our goal, please consider donating to our paypal account.  The button is on the right hand sidebar.  We are also seeking donations of items on our wish list.  We have a P.O. Box for mailing donations, which you can find here

We were able to donate our first set of items as an official organization: a set of diapers and blankets for the sisters of a sweet little angel.  They can use them with their dolls and snuggle them when they miss their sister.  Our volunteer seamstresses are busy making Teeny Tears Diapers for the hospitals we anticipate will need restocking next year.  We've also been blessed with a High School Senior who helped us cut out diapers for his senior project.  More on that to come!

Walk to Remember

Yesterday, we released balloons up to Heaven at the Walk to Remember, beautifully organized by Heartstrings. (http://www.heartstringssupport.org/) Some families had many balloons to send up, thus they were tied together. We watched them rise towards Heaven...some representing new losses...one representing a loss from 23 years ago. It was a beautiful, bittersweet image...and those tied together (siblings) appeared to stay together all the way up.

There were tables from various organizations there to offer goodies/support to families.  Next year we hope to have a table set up to offer some type of token to these special families.   It was a beautiful, bitterseweet day.  If you live in the Piedmont Triad and have not heard of Heartstrings, you should definitely check them out.  What a beautiful organization.

Update

We are working on the beginning paperwork for nonprofit status (which includes both state and federal applications).  Funding (without legal fees) amounts to around $500.  We have a goal to raise $1000 by the end of October.  We've had three donations so far, bringing us to $241.  Thank you so much to those who have donated!  This is a breakdown of what a donation helps to provide:

$2 funds a pair of teeny tears diapers
$5 funds a sibling/parent blanket
$10 funds a memory box for a family
$50 stocks a small hospital with an annual supply of teeny tears diapers
$250 stocks a small hospital with an annual supply of memory boxes
$500 complete nonprofit paperwork funding

Please consider donating (paypal button at top right) and help us spread word!

Thanks!!!

Shout-outs

One of our biggest projects has been Teeny Tears diapers.  So far, our team of volunteers have made close to 2000 of these tiny treasures and distributed them to hospitals in NC and a couple of sister organizations in Texas.  We've also been blessed to donate tiny blankets with many of our sets (These diapers serve infants who have passed away in utero and/or in the NICU and size all the way down to 18 weeks gestation).  We had a whole lot of help from volunteers helping with the creative process, as well as fabric/sewing material donations from the community.  We also received help/support from local businesses before we even had a name!  Some businesses donated time, some made monetary and/or fabric contributions, and others donated work space.

We print business logos on our local handouts to show our appreciation for supporting businesses.  We also provide memorial donation cards for those who'd like to remember a child.  If a volunteer/donor has a child they'd like to dedicate their work/donation to, we add them to our Angel Page

Here are some of the wonderful things we've been able to donate so far...

Off and Running

Our new (soon-to-be) nonprofit is off and running!   Since we are brand new and a little nervous, we'd like to ask for some help.  We'd appreciate any of the following:

1) Prayers- for the families we will serve and for the volunteers who will work to help them.
2) Monetary contributions to get us running (our 501 (c) application will cost about $400 and we will need additional funding to begin purchasing items/materials for memory boxes, teeny dears diapers, etc.).  We do have our very own paypal link!
Click on the button at the top right of the screen.
3) "Like" us on facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/RaindropMemories
4) Add our blog button (left hand side of screen) to your blog.
5) Help us spread word
6) Donate items- http://raindropmemories.blogspot.com/p/wish-list.html
7) Volunteer with us- we have lots of volunteer opportunities available to all age groups!

We will print business logos on our handouts for any supporting business.
We will also offer advertising space on our blog to donor businesses.
We will write letters of recommendations for volunteers.
We will send personalized donation (In Memory of, In Honor of) to monetary donors.

Though this particular project just launched yesterday, our founders worked hard over the summer to donate TWO THOUSAND bereavement diapers and blankets across the state of NC and to some "sister" organizations in Texas.

Thank you so much for your help and prayers!
